What are the Features of the New Process Sendzimir Roll?
Compared with the conventional centrifugal casting Sendzimir roll, the CPC method of manufacturing the Sendzimir work roll has the following characteristics:
The molten metal solidifies from the bottom to the top, which is beneficial to the filling of the liquid metal. Because there is no density segregation in the special casting method, the outer surface of the Sendzimir work roll can be made of high carbon, high tungsten and high vanadium high-speed steel, which has a good red hardness and high temperature wear resistance.
The outer layer of the Sendzimir work roll is solidified in a water-cooled crystallizer to obtain a fine solidified structure, improving the toughness and thermal fatigue resistance of the Sendzimir work rolls.
The Sendzimir roll uses forged steel as the core material, which has high strength, no risk of breakage of the core during rolling, and improves the bending load of the Sendzimir work rolls so that the rolled steel plate obtains a better shape.
The inner and outer layers of the Sendzimir mill work rolls have a wide selection of materials and high bonding strength, making it possible to produce materials that could not be produced by centrifugal castings, such as hypereutectic materials and particle-reinforced high-speed steel-based composites. The transition layer between the outer layer and the core is well bonded due to metal diffusion. The outer layer of the composite Sendzimir work roll has a large residual compressive stress, which prevents cracks on the surface of the Sendzimir work roll from penetrating into the core. This caused the Sendzimir work roll to peel off.
The CPC process can be used not only to prepare new Sendzimir work rolls but also to repair old Sendzimir work rolls. The production cost is lower, 1/2 lower than electro slag remelting and surfacing, and 2/3 lower than submerged arc welding. In practical production applications, this process enables a significant reduction in roll consumption, the number of roll changes and the amount of grinding of the Sendzimir work rolls. At the same time, the performance of the CPC compound Sendzimer work roll is enhanced compared to the centrifugal Sendzimir work roll, and the fuel and power consumption is reduced, which helps to reduce the rolling cost and improve the quality of the strip.
