What Are the Characteristics of Various Continuous Casting Machine?

 

(1) Vertical Continuous Casting Machine

 

The mold and the secondary cooling section are arranged on a vertical line, and the vertical continuous caster has the following characteristics: the main equipment of the continuous caster is arranged on the vertical centerline; it is advantageous for the inclusions to float up, and the billet shell is cooled more uniformly; the equipment is high and the production cost is high. Large, difficult to protect the equipment; large hydrostatic head, excellent bulging deformation. Settlement methods: elevated, pit, semi-elevated, and semi-pit. Suitable cast steel grades: high-quality steel, alloy steel and crack-sensitive steel grades.

 

(2) Vertical Bending Continuous Casting Machine

 

This kind of transition model has the same characteristics as the vertical continuous casting machine. Suitable for casting small section billets (<100mm×100mm).

 

(3) Arc Continuous Caster with the Straight Section

 

Straight mold is selected, and there are 2~5m straight nip rollers under the mold. The casting billet with the liquid core is continuously bent into an arc after the straight section, and then straightened and transported out.

 

Features: Save the features of the vertical continuous caster; use the continuous bending and multi-point straightening skills to prevent cracks in the two-phase zone; most of them are used for casting slabs.

 

(4) Arc Continuous Casting Machine

 

The mold and the second cold zone nip roller equipment are within a quarter of the arc, the casting billet is straightened at the tangent point of the vertical centerline, and the billet is discharged from the horizontal direction.

 

The characteristics of the arc continuous caster are: the height is further reduced, and the investment cost is lower; the static pressure of the molten steel received by the casting slab during the agglomeration process is relatively small, which can reduce internal cracks and segregation caused by bulging deformation, which is conducive to improvement The quality of the cast slab and the advancing speed; the non-metallic inclusions tend to gather to the inner arc side, which constitutes uneven distribution and segregation.

 

(5) Ellipse Continuous casting machine (multi-point straightening arc continuous casting machine)

 

The elliptical continuous caster is also called the super-vertical continuous caster. By sequentially changing the radius of curvature of the arc part, the finalizer and the second cold section clamp are arranged on a quarter elliptical arc. It is characterized by a further drop in height, but the connected equipment and adjustment are messy and difficult to protect.

 

(6) Horizontal Continuous Casting Machine

 

The center package, crystallizer, secondary cooling section, drawing machine and cutting equipment are arranged in the same horizontal position. Different from the vertical and arc continuous casters, that is: the mold and the center pack are in close contact, and the equipment has a separate ring at the junction of the nozzle and the finalizer; the mold does not oscillate during the drawing, but the drawing machine is carried.

 

The slab is pulled→stop→reverse push→stop the periodic motion of different combinations; the mold uses a longer multi-stage mold to combine the “first cooling” and “second cooling” together.

 

Its characteristics are low equipment height, low investment, suitable for old workshop transformation; fully enclosed pouring, but also good quality; no bending and straightening in the cohesion process, which is suitable for pouring alloy steel and special steel.
